The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
